Before your first consultation
It helps if you can send us, in advance:
- a short summary of the matter and what you would like to achieve
- copies of the key documents, such as agreements, correspondence, court papers or title documents
- the names of the other people or companies involved, so that we can check for any conflict of interest
Useful to know
- Identity: before we act, we will need to verify your identity, for example from a copy of your passport. For a company, we will also ask for its registration documents.
- Language: some documents you receive in Malaysia, such as land office and court papers, may be in Bahasa Malaysia. We will explain what they mean in English.
- Buying property: foreign buyers may need the consent of the state authority, and some states set minimum purchase prices for foreigners. The rules differ from state to state, so we will advise you on the property you are considering. See Real estate.
Signing documents from abroad
Some documents signed outside Malaysia may need to be notarised, or attested by an appropriate official, in the country where you are before they can be used here. What is needed depends on the document and the matter, so we will advise you in each case.
